A Very Intense Time
Manmit begins with her life before the night it all changed. She had walked out of her marriage with two very young children and a lot of responsibility. In India, she explains, that is considered a big taboo, however good or bad a marriage may be. She had her father’s support, and he was staying with her.
Her mother had died of cancer only a year earlier. So the marriage was ending, her mother had passed, the children were very young, and her job kept her out of the country about 10 to 12 days a month. She says everything was very intense.
She also describes intense anxiety and panic. She would reach the hospital and be told, you just have anxiety, and she would be given an anti-anxiety drug and go home. She says this started to increase as a pattern.
A Scientist at Heart
It helps to know who is telling this story. Manmit is, in her own words, a very scientific person. She grew up in an army family. She did her microbiology, then a master’s in business, then spent 19 years in the corporate world. Everything, she says, was very left-brained.
So when someone like that is told she had a purpose and had not met it, she says, it is the most bizarre thing she could have imagined. Of course she thought she had lost it totally.
The Night She Left Her Body
One night, lying on her bed, she felt an intense choking feeling, with a lot of pressure on her chest, and it almost felt as if she would move out of her body. She knew she was dying, she says, but there was nothing she could do. She could not even reach her phone.
She describes that period before death as one where you are so helpless, and then there is suddenly a surrender. You think, okay, nothing is left, in a few moments I am going to go off. And she did go off, she says, not medically, but she felt she had left her body.
She was “at the level of the ceiling fan, I could actually see myself lying down on the bed.” She perceived “a thin cord between who I was on the fan and the body that was there.” The feeling was not scary and not happy either. “It was a very confused feeling.” Where am I? What is happening?
Our glossary entry on astral projection explains how some people describe leaving the body.
No Light and No One Came
Manmit had always heard there would be a bright white light and all of that. There was no light. Nobody came to take her, which made it even more confusing. She asked herself where the ancestors were, and where the people were who were supposed to be there.
Then she began to hear a lot of voices. They were not scary. It seemed as if somebody had opened a large door, and she could hear many voices talking among themselves. Then one decided to talk to her. Later she understood they were her spirit guides.
It was chaotic and confusing, she says. They told her, “this is not death.” They wanted to get her attention, and they said “your purpose is not really met.”
Asking for Proof
Manmit says the things the guides went on to tell her, and the way they told her, made her realize that disbelief was very difficult. In her words, “they made disbelief impossible.” She was not exactly believing it. She kept saying: okay, if this is true, show me this. If this is true, let me know this. And it happened exactly that way.
She noticed that her senses, which she had taken for granted, such as getting an energy reading of people when she looked at them, had become more heightened. She does not say the experience exploded her senses. It heightened them and made them more real.
She talked it over with two friends, who clearly thought she had lost it, though they did not say so. She asked one if that was what he was thinking. He said no. She said, let me tell you the language in which you are thinking this right now. She named Tamil. He asked how she knew.

The Sealed Report
She then asked spirit what they wanted her to do. She had no contacts, no guru and no school to refer to. Did they want her to wake up one day and announce she had psychic abilities? They said, and leave your job. She said, are you kidding me? They said, if we give you tangible proof. She said even then, who will give me business, with two young children to take care of? They said, first let’s get the proof in order.
She went to a doctor and told him honestly that, because of intense stress, something was happening to her, and asked for an examination. She told him about her visions. He was a believer, she says. A sealed report lay on his table. He asked her what she thought was in it. She said she did not know what the report was, but she could see one number, 7.03.
He opened it. It was a test of some sort, and the number was 7.03. They looked at the report and at each other, and neither knew what to do. He suggested she relax and give it a few days.
Six Tough Months and a Leap
They were intense experiences, intense signs, she says. She could not ignore them, and she could not leave her job either. It was simply not possible. Those six months were tough. What will I do? she kept thinking.
And when she did leave, she still did not have a clue what to do. She made short videos, one of which begins “Hi, I’m Manmeet Kumar. I’m a psychic,” and people responded by asking if she was psycho. They said there was something wrong with her. She had to bring the word to the country, and they thought she was cuckoo.
It has been a journey. From being perceived as someone who was not stable, she has now taught for 10 years, with batches all across the world.
Choice, Stuck Energy and a Gentle God
Manmit shares some beliefs from her work. In death, she says, we have a choice. When death comes, we can go into the light, or we can be very scared, or very angry, and not go. Some souls, she says, are very angry and have gotten stuck.
She adds that the moments before a death can carry so much emotional vibration, for hundreds of people together, that it gets etched into trees, land, buildings and asphalt. Energy cannot be created or destroyed, she says.
Her view of God is gentle. “God is not sitting there to punish us.” She says: “I firmly believe that God is an observer,” an energetic observer, like a mountain behind you. She says “The rules that are being created by religion are to control man,” that no deity cares whether we fast, and that “Fear has become a selling point.”
Our guide to communicating with spirit guides and the glossary entry on spirit guides offer more on how people describe working with guides.
Living Two Lives and Staying Grounded
Manmit says that half her life runs on calendars, and the other half is with her guides and the downloads she receives, planning courses and content. “It’s like you’re living two lives.”
Grounding is very important, she says. She might be having one conversation while another is going on in another window of her mind. She grounds before every conversation, with her own mantras and hand actions, which are continuous so she can remain here.
Her advice: “Learn to hold the experience without reaction.” You expand your mental body, your physical body, your emotional body, everything.
Where Manmit’s Story Sits
Manmit’s account is a little different from the classic near-death story. She is clear that she did not die medically. What she describes is a sense of leaving the body, a cord, an unexpected absence of light, voices that told her she was not finished, and then an unfolding of new perception and a new path. At Next Level Soul we share each story in the guest’s own words, as an experience.

Tell me what your life was like before you died.
Dr. Manmit Kumarr 0:08
So I had walked out of a of my marriage with two very young children and a lot of responsibility. And in India, it's considered to be a big taboo to walk out of your marriage. However, good or bad it may be, and I had my dad's support, and he he was staying with me. I remember I lost my mother to cancer just a year ago, so it was a time where everything was very intense. The marriage ending, my mother sort of passing on, children very young. I had a job that would keep me out of the country for about 10 to 12 days a month, and my children were very young, so I would experience intense anxiety and panic, and I would reach the hospital, and they would say, "Oh, you just have anxiety. They would give me an anti-anxiety drug, and I would come back. This started to increase as a pattern, and one night, as I was on my bed, I felt an intense choking feeling. The feeling was of choking, a lot of pressure on the chest, and it almost felt like you're just going to move out of your body. So I knew that I was dying, but there was nothing I could do about it. I couldn't even reach my phone, and it's just that period before death where they are so helpless, and suddenly there's a surrender. You just think, okay, now nothing's left. It's in just a few moments I'm going to go off, and I did go off, not medically, but I felt that I had left my body, and at the level of the ceiling fan, I could actually see myself lying down on the bed. I perceived a thin cord between who I was on the fan and the body that was there. It was not a scary feeling, nor was it a happy feeling. It was a very confused feeling. Where am I? What is happening? And I'd always heard that there's going to be a bright white light and all of that, but there was no light. Nobody came to take me, so it was even more confusing because no one came. Where are the ancestors? Where were the people who were supposed to be there? And then I started hearing a lot of voices that were not scary. It seemed like somebody had opened a large door, and I could hear a lot of voices, and they were talking amongst themselves. And then one decided to talk to me. And later on, I was to figure that they were my spirit guides. At that point, it was very chaotic and confusing. And they told me that this is not death. This is your. We wanted to get your attention, and we want to tell you that your purpose is not really met. I want to tell you that I am a very scientific person. I grew up in an army family. I've I've done my microbiology, then I've done my masters in business, then I've been in the corporate world for 19 years. Everything's very left-brained. If someone like that tells me that you don't, you had a purpose, and you not met it, and therefore we have sort of got your attention like that. It's the most bizarre thing that anyone could have thought, and I of course thought I've lost it totally. But the things that they proceeded to tell me and the way they told me made me realize that disbelief was very difficult. Not that I was believing what was happening, but they made disbelief impossible. The signs they gave me, the messages they gave me, I kept telling them. I said, "Okay, if this is true, then show me this. If this is true, then let me know this. And it exactly happened like that. And by then, I realized that the senses that I had taken for granted, which means that when I look at people, I have a you know energy reading of them, had become heightened, more heightened. I would not say that this experience exploded my senses and I discovered them. No, it was not like that. But it heightened them and it made it more real. So that's what happened that night. Yeah, I discussed it with two of my friends who clearly thought, but they didn't tell me. But I could imagine them thinking that I had lost it.
Dr. Manmit Kumarr 4:09
It was almost like so. I asked one of them. I said, "Is this what you're thinking? He said, "No. I said, "No, no. Let me tell you the language in which you're thinking this. You are thinking this right now in Tamil. And he said, "How do you know? So I said, "Look, see. So when I would go to people, and so I asked spirit. I said, "You know what do you want me to do? Because I don't have any contacts. I don't know where to go. I'm not. I don't have a guru. I don't have a school to refer to. You want me to suddenly just get up one day and say, 'Look, now you have psychic abilities. Do what? So they said, and leave your job. I said, are you kidding me? So they said, okay. If we give you tangible proof, I said, even if you gave me tangible proof, who will give me business? I have two young children to take care of. So they said, okay, first let's get the proof in order. So I said, okay, and I went to a doctor and I went and told him very honest. I said, you know, because of intense stress, something's happening to me, and I want you to, you know, examine me and all that. And he said, how do you know that? I said, I know that because I have these visions and all that. And by the way, he was a believer. So he said, okay, are you very sure that this is what it is? I said, yes, yes. You please, please take a brain X-ray, this that. And there was a report lying on his table, it was a sealed envelope, and he said, "Okay. He was talking to one of his assistants, and he said, "Okay, just give me this report. And he said, "Okay, what do you think is there in this report? And I said, "I don't know what the report is, but I I can see one number, 7.03, and it was a sealed report. He opened that report. It was a test of some sort, and there was the number 7.03. Now both of us kept looking at it and kept looking at each other. Now both of us didn't know what to do. So he says, you know, just relax, give it some, give it a few days, and let's see what happens. So they were intense experiences. They were intense signs. I could not ignore them. At the same time, I couldn't leave my job. It was simply not possible. And what would I do just with a sign? So it it was tough. Those six months were tough. I kept thinking, "What will I do? What will I do? But trust me, when I left my job, also I didn't have a clue what to do because when I would make short videos, and I'll I would love to share one with you where I'm saying, "Hi, I'm Manmeet Kumar. I'm a psychic, and people would listen to it and say, "Are you psycho? I mean, what does this mean? And I said, "Oh my God! Now I have to bring the word to the country because they used to think I'm, you know, cuckoo. And and they said, "Why are you making a video on this? That there's something wrong with you. It started from there, and it's been a journey. It's been a journey from being perceived as somebody who was not stable to now teaching for 10 years and having batches all across the world, so what happens is that we have a choice. In death, we have a choice. When death comes, we can either go into the light, or we can be very scared, or very angry, or very something to not go. So that's part one. Some of the souls have not just crossed over; they are very angry and they've got stuck there. The second thing is that when death is going to happen, those moments before death are so intense that there is so much of emotional vibration going on at that point in time, and for hundreds of people together, so that gets etched in the trees, the land, the buildings, the asphalt, everything that is around that-you know-energy goes and attaches itself there because energy cannot be created or destroyed. God is not sitting there to punish us.
Dr. Manmit Kumarr 7:31
I firmly believe that God is an observer. It's an energetic observer. Like you know, behind you there's a mountain, right? It's an observer. The rules that are being created by religion are to control man. The deities are not interested if you are fasting. No one is interested, by the way. I don't think I I don't think that that it's important to you know exhaust people with fear. Fear has become a selling point, you know, and religion and fear have been used for the longest time across the world to control people, their emotions, and of course, mystics will go eventually into their inner identity. It becomes very difficult for them to have a very you know showbiz kind of a thing, and then you know it's very difficult to switch. I can't explain. So half your life is running on calendars, and trust me, the rest half is, you know, with with your guides and the downloads that you're receiving from them, and you know, planning courses and content and all of that. So it's like you're living two lives. I think gramming is very important. One tends to either go into you know, like he said, go off. You could you could be having a conversation here, and I could have another window in my mind where there's another conversation going on. So he grounds himself like that. I ground before every conversation. I ground with my own mantras and with my own hand action. So my hands are not visible here, but there are actions that I'm continuously doing here to remain here. Learn to hold the experience without reaction. So you expand your mental body, your physical body, your emotional body, everything.
