About This Episode

Next Level Soul Podcast Episode 542

Gary Zukav is the author of The Seat of the Soul. In this episode of the Next Level Soul Podcast, he shares how his own spiritual journey unfolded, why he says humanity is about midway through a transformation in consciousness, and how emotional awareness and responsible choice can help you choose love over fear.

Key Takeaways

  • Gary says his spiritual path unfolded over time, beginning with a largely unconscious life he compares to sleepwalking.
  • He says humanity is about midway through a shift from five sensory to multi sensory consciousness.
  • He describes authentic power as love, and external power as the ability to manipulate and control.
  • He names two tools: emotional awareness and responsible choice, plus intuition as a third.
  • He says you cannot control what you will feel next, but you can control what you do when you feel it.
  • He suggests choosing a belief system that does not contain fear, and says there is nothing that is not love.

A Journey That Unfolded

Asked how his spiritual journey began, Gary says it was not an event. It unfolded. He says a large part of his life was completely unconscious. He knew his address and his phone number, he says, but he was not really aware of what he was doing. He describes himself in those years as angry and driven by what he calls macho energy, and he became a paratrooper and an officer in the Special Forces. He also went to Harvard. Looking back, he says, it was all part of the same unfolding, but without awareness, like sleepwalking.

His first book, The Dancing Wu Li Masters, was about quantum physics for lay readers, the kind of liberal arts teachers who do not like mathematics but want to understand quantum mechanics. Gary says it won the American Book Award for science, and that it is the reason he was invited to a conference in Sweden in 1985.

Robert Johnson and the Desert

Before that trip, Gary says he had split up with a woman he wanted to be with and was in a lot of pain. He called Robert Johnson, a Jungian psychiatrist and author he had met at a talk, and went to see him in San Diego. Gary says Johnson offered one striking suggestion: go to the desert and get enlightened, because that is how it traditionally happens.

So he drove into the desert and stayed for weeks. Many things happened there, he says, and one of them was that his dreams became very important to him. When he felt the time had come to leave, he decided to accept the invitation to Sweden, even though he did not think he could present.

A Channeled Teacher in Sweden

Gary says the presenters at the conference included Edgar Mitchell, the Apollo 14 astronaut who founded the Institute of Noetic Sciences. On the first evening, the organizers introduced the group to a middle aged man and his son. The man closed his eyes, his countenance changed, and a different personality spoke through him.

Gary was jet lagged and did not care much about being there. The next morning he accepted the chance to speak with the entity anyway. Its first words, he says, captured his attention completely: it asked how he had learned to understand his dreams in the desert. Gary says that is something almost no one knew. He recalls being told that a little light had been ignited in him, like a candle in a cathedral, and that he needed to keep the flame alive by speaking to people.

Gary told the entity that speaking to people was the one thing he could not do. He says it held his hand and asked whether he would speak to people, and after a moment he realized the answer was yes. He walked out of the room straight into a group of people waiting outside the door, and his new intention had its first opportunity to be practiced. He also asked why the entity spoke through a translator instead of directly in English. The answer, he says, was that it could, but he could not have understood it.

Meeting Genesis

Two years later, Gary says, a woman he was beginning a relationship with told him, in a playful way, that she channeled a non physical entity and asked whether he wanted to speak with it. After his experience in Sweden, he did. She told him the entity was an angel who said to call him Genesis. Gary dates that first session to September 1, 1985.

He says he came with questions about his compulsions and his need for healing. Genesis answered by telling him the real issue was the nature of love, and then the nature of power. Gary says Genesis explained that in every relationship there is a struggle to balance your own authenticity with being in relationship, and that he spoke with Genesis twice that morning and twice that afternoon. He says that began a connection with a non physical presence that has lasted about 40 years.

When Gary asked what Genesis is, he says the reply was an impersonal energy dynamic. When he asked what an angel is, he says he was told it might be seen as a force of consciousness that has evolved into the ability to support souls on the earth and in other galaxies.

What a Non Physical Teacher Does and Does Not Do

Gary offers a caution for listeners. In his limited experience, not all non physical teachers are equal, and some do not seem to know much more than he does. A true teacher, he says, knows you without being told, is beneficent and compassionate, and never tells you what to do. It helps you see your experience more clearly so you can use it wisely.

He goes further. If you think you are in touch with a non physical teacher and the teacher tells you what to do, he says you are not in touch with a teacher. You are in touch with a frightened part of your personality. No teacher, he says, can assume responsibility for your choices and the consequences you create with them.

Writing The Seat of the Soul

Gary says he moved to Mount Shasta, California, and wrote The Seat of the Soul there. It was simply what Genesis had taught him over two years. Before it was published, he wondered how the world would receive a book about reincarnation, the soul and evolution, when The Dancing Wu Li Masters had been reviewed so warmly. He says he heard Genesis tell him not to worry, because this arrow would find its mark.

He is clear that he never follows anything blindly, and he asks the same of listeners. He says he and his late wife Linda began every event by saying they do not expect people to accept anything simply because Gary says it. If something resonates, he says, experiment with it. Take it into your life and see what you create. If you like it, experiment more. If not, let it go, because you should not wear a shoe that pinches.

Humanity at the Midway Point

Gary says the old consciousness was limited to the five senses and understood power as the ability to manipulate and control. He says it evolved over roughly 300,000 years. The new consciousness, he says, is emerging within three generations, which he calls faster than a heartbeat from the perspective of evolutionary time. We are about midway through, he says, with as many people still in five sensory perception as in the new consciousness.

The new consciousness is multi sensory. He gives an everyday example: you pass a stranger in the grocery store and sense that she is unhappy and going through a divorce, though you have never met her. He says multi sensory humans experience power differently. For them, power is the ability to distinguish within yourself between love and fear, no matter what is going on inside or outside, and to choose love.

Inside, he says, that might be depression, hopelessness, despair, anger or overwhelm. Outside, it might be a disaster. He calls the old understanding of external power not only obsolete but toxic, and says it produces only violence and destruction.

Authentic Power Is Love

For Gary, authentic power is your curriculum in what he calls the earth school. He says it is love, and that there is no power greater than that. The hard part is how to love when you hate someone, judge someone or dislike yourself. He says creating authentic power answers those questions in a way that is solid and applicable, but not as dogma.

He says Genesis told him to offer his teaching simply as a window through which he has come to see life, so others can look through it if it helps. Because he only claims it as his own experience, he says, no one can argue with it.

Emotional Awareness and Responsible Choice

Gary says you are your perceptions. Your personality has different parts, he explains. Some originate in fear, and you experience them as anger, resentment, jealousy, competitiveness, obsession, superiority and inferiority. Others originate in love, and you experience them as gratitude, caring, appreciation, contentment and patience.

Emotional awareness, he says, means looking inside when you feel a painful emotion, not outside at the world. Put your attention in your throat, chest and solar plexus and look for physical sensations such as aching, throbbing, stabbing, stinging, burning or contracting. Then notice the thoughts attached to them, which he says are always judgmental and critical, such as “I already know all this.”

Step back an arm’s length, Gary says, and in that gap you can choose. Use your free will to move your attention to a loving part of your personality, perhaps a time you felt loved by a child, a grandparent or a friend, and speak or act from that. As you repeat this, he says, the frightened part loses its hold, and its thoughts roll off you like water off a duck’s feathers.

The second tool is responsible choice, a choice whose consequences you are willing to take responsibility for. The third is consulting intuition. In Eastern language, he says, acting from fear creates karma, and acting from love also creates karma, but the consequences are constructive and healthy.

Gary presents this as a spiritual practice. It is not a substitute for professional mental health care.

Fear Inside and Outside

When Alex asks about the fear many people feel about politics, the economy and natural disasters, Gary says the fear is in you, and that is where you can address it. You cannot change a world built on external power with more external power, he says, and putting up billboards that say choose love will not help.

Soul to Soul and the Universal Human

Gary describes a connection many people have felt: you board a bus, look at the driver, and for a moment there is a real connection. He calls it a soul to soul connection. He says five sensory humans identify with their personalities, multi sensory humans identify with their souls, and a universal human identifies with life itself.

A universal human, he says, puts allegiance to life first and everything else second, beyond nation, religion, ethnic group, culture and gender. He says we are already feeling the pull of that next step, even while we are still entering the second.

Choosing Beliefs Without Fear

Gary says, “You cannot control what you’re going to experience emotionally next, but you can control what you’re going to do when you experience it.” He says belief systems are something you can choose. If you are not happy with yours, he suggests looking for one that gives you more meaning and does not contain fear.

His own offering is that the universe is alive, wise and compassionate, that your life and your choices are meaningful, and that you can learn to use your will to choose love. He describes an intention as a quality of consciousness, not a goal. If you choose fear, he says, you are not blamed or judged. You are simply controlled by the frightened parts of your personality, and you can decide to change.

Gary’s Short Answers

Alex closes with a few questions. Gary says a fulfilled life is authentic power, love, connection, the intentions of your soul, harmony, cooperation, sharing and reverence for life. His advice to little Gary is: you are beautiful. He defines God as you, which means everyone is divine. And he says there is nothing that is not love. Even painful experiences, he says, are love masquerading as fear, and a painful emotion means a frightened part of your personality is active. On life’s purpose, he suggests asking your heart.

Gary also shares that his wife Linda Francis returned home in August 2022. He says he made a commitment not to squander any of what he went through, and that it has changed him. He invites listeners to visit seatofthesoul.com, where he shares more, and to explore The Gary Zukav Podcast.

Gary Zukav and Religion: What He Has Said Publicly

In the sources we reviewed, Gary Zukav does not identify with one particular religion, and we do not label anyone’s beliefs. What he does say, in this episode and on his official site, is that spirituality is about the soul, love and what he calls authentic power. Here is how he frames it in his own terms.

  • Allegiance to life. He describes a universal human as someone who puts allegiance to life first, beyond nation, religion, ethnic group, culture and gender.
  • Choosing your beliefs. He says belief systems are something you can choose, and suggests finding one that gives more meaning and contains no fear.
  • The Universe. His own offering is that the universe is alive, wise and compassionate, and that your choices are meaningful.
  • God. Asked for a short answer, he defines God as you, which he explains to mean that everyone is divine.
  • Authentic power. The Institute describes it as the alignment of the personality with the soul, expressed through love, harmony, cooperation, sharing and reverence for Life.
  • Spiritual partnership. His book of that name explores relationships as a path to authentic power.

Frequently Asked Questions

Who is Gary Zukav?

Gary Zukav is the author of The Seat of the Soul and The Dancing Wu Li Masters, which he says won the American Book Award for science. In this episode he describes a spiritual path that unfolded gradually, starting from a largely unconscious life. He now shares what he calls the new consciousness through books, events and a podcast.

What does Gary Zukav mean by the midway point?

He says humanity is about halfway through a shift from five sensory consciousness to a multi sensory consciousness. The old form, he says, evolved over roughly 300,000 years, while the new one is emerging within three generations. In his view there are about as many people living in the old consciousness as in the new. He calls this an epic transformation that has never happened before.

What is the difference between external power and authentic power?

Gary describes external power as the ability to manipulate and control, measured by things like position, office size or reach. Authentic power, he says, is the alignment of the personality with the soul, and he describes it as love. He says external power now produces only violence and destruction. Authentic power is created choice by choice, inside you.

What are the tools for creating authentic power?

Gary names two main tools: emotional awareness and responsible choice. He adds a third, consulting your intuition. Emotional awareness means noticing what you feel and where you feel it in the body. Responsible choice means choosing an action whose consequences you are willing to accept.

How does Gary suggest working with a painful emotion?

He suggests looking inside, not outside, when an emotion hurts. Notice physical sensations in the throat, chest and solar plexus, such as aching, burning or contracting, and notice the judgmental thoughts that come with them. Step back an arm’s length, then use your free will to move your attention to a loving part of your personality, such as a time you felt loved. He describes this as a spiritual practice and not a replacement for professional care.

Can you control your emotions, according to Gary Zukav?

He says you cannot control what you will experience emotionally next. You can control what you do when you experience it. In his teaching, the moment a frightened part of you is active is the moment you can choose to act from a loving part instead. He says that over time the frightened parts lose their control, like water running off the feathers of a duck.

Who is Genesis, the teacher Gary mentions?

Genesis is the name of the non physical teacher Gary says he first met on September 1, 1985, through a woman who channeled. When he asked what Genesis was, he says the answer was an impersonal energy dynamic. He says a true non physical teacher never tells you what to do and only helps you see your experience more clearly. He says he did not follow anything blindly and invites listeners to test what he shares in their own lives.

What is a universal human?

Gary describes three stages: five sensory humans who identify with their personalities, multi sensory humans who identify with their souls, and universal humans who identify with life itself, with a capital L. A universal human, he says, puts allegiance to life first, ahead of nation, religion, culture or gender. He says we are already feeling the pull toward this next step.

How does Gary say to choose a belief system?

He says belief systems are something you can choose. If you are not happy with yours, he suggests looking for one that gives you more meaning and does not contain fear. He offers his own: the universe is alive, wise and compassionate, and your choices create consequences. He asks people to experiment with it and let it go if it pinches like a shoe.

You are the incarnation of a part of the energy of your soul. It's happening. It's here. The new species is here. The universe is a universe of joy. You are all that is the Hindus say, Thou art that, that all that is that.

Alex Ferrari 0:54
I like to welcome to the show Gary Zukav, how you doing Gary?

Gary Zukav 0:57
Hello, Alex. I'm doing very well, and it's a joy to be on your podcast again.

Alex Ferrari 1:02
Thank you so much, Gary. I appreciate you. I wanted to, I wanted to start off because you, I mean, you are such a prolific person in this space of consciousness, and you were talking about it before it was in vogue. I know you've been on Oprah a few times back in the day with Oprah and that. So you've been been kind of pounding this consciousness drum and and spirituality drum, all these different things getting into your own authentic power and so much for such a long time, I I've always wondered, though, how did you really begin your spiritual journey, for people who don't know your work.

Gary Zukav 1:38
Well, it wasn't an event. It unfolded. Large part of my life was completely unconscious. I was by that I think I wasn't walking into telephone poles. I knew my I knew my address, I knew my telephone number, but I wasn't really aware of what I was doing. I was addicted to sex. I was angry. I the street name for this is macho, and I became a paratrooper. I became an officer in the Special Forces. Also went to Harvard, but that didn't have any it was all part of the same unfolding, but without awareness looking back on it. It was like sleepwalking, except I was sort of awake, sort of and then in 1985 I met a non physical teacher. Actually, I met a non physical teacher in Sweden. Just before that, I wrote a book called The dancing Movie Masters. That was my first book, and it won the American Book Award for science. It was about quantum physics, for lay people, for liberal arts teachers like me who don't like mathematics and don't know about it, but they wanted to know about quantum mechanics. And that book was the reason I was invited to this conference in Sweden. Before that, I just split up with a woman that I really wanted to be with, and I was in a lot of pain, and so I called someone I met at a meeting, at a talk he gave Robert Johnson. He was a Jungian psychiatrist and psychologist, and wrote a lot of books, and I went down to see him. He just said, come on down. Let's let's get together. So I went to San Diego, and then he said this striking thing. He said, Why don't you, why don't you go to the desert and get enlightened? That's how it traditionally happens. He said, it just like that. He's tall, iconic, not too many social skills, but a wonderful, wonderful person. So I drove into the desert, and I spent some time there weeks. And in that time, I a lot of things happened, and one of them was my dreams became very important to me, and then when I left the desert, I realized the time has come for me to leave the desert, and I'm going to accept this invitation to Sweden that I had received previously. But I didn't think I could go, because I didn't think I could even present. And I did go, and there were four presenters at this conference since in Sweden, one of them was Edgar Mitchell, the founder of the Institute of Noetic science, and later and earlier, an Apollo 14 astronaut and a philosopher Peter cosmbag Baum and I and one other and we arrived from this Arlanda Airport to elegant little hotel in the woods and the conference organizer there, John bolstrom, came out and greeted us all welcome. Welcome to Sweden. All the big Swedish companies are already here, Volvo, Saab, the telecoms, the banks and I have a surprise for you. I. He took us into a room, and there, on a riser was a middle aged man and his son. And a man closed his eyes and his countenance changed, and he became a different personality, and the different personality called himself ombres. And Ambrus talked for a while, but I was jet lagged. We all were all I wanted to do was get to my room, but the next morning, John came us, came to me in the lobby and said, You're gonna speak to umbres anytime you want. You want. And so even though my interaction with ombres was superficial. I didn't care for even being there. I was curious, so I accepted, and he took me to the room again, and there was the middle aged man and his son, and soon ombrus and I, and the very first words that this channeled entity said captured my attention completely, totally. He said, How did you learn to understand your dreams in the desert? Alex, how did he know that? Robert knew I was in the desert, but he didn't know what happened? My parents, who I went to see after I left the desert for three days, didn't even know there was a desert in my life. But um, Bruce knew I was in one, and he wanted to know how I learned about my dreams. That's how we started. I was I was engaged immediately, and he told me, a little light has been ignited in you, like a candle in a cathedral, and you've got to keep it, the flame alive. And I said, Oh, can it go out? And he said, Yes, you could fall I said, Well, how do I keep it alive? And he said, You need to speak to people. You need to want to speak to people. And I said, ombrus, that's the one thing I can't do. And he took, he extended his hands, and he took one hand of mine and the other hand of his hand to hand, two hands like this. And he said, Will you speak to people? And after a moment, I realized, yes, I will. Will you decide to do that? And he squeezed my hand, and our conversation came to an end, and I walked down into the hall, directly into a group of people that were just outside the door. So my intention had immediately given me the opportunity to put it into practice, and I only saw ombres one more time. I said, How do you why do you need to speak to someone who only speaks Swedish and then has to be translated, and then the reverse. When I ask you a question, they said, I said, could you just talk to me in English directly? And he said, Yes, I could. But could you understand me? And I knew immediately I couldn't. No two years later, I am with another person that I now want to, want to have a relationship with, and do have a relationship. And she came to visit me, and she said, in a playful way, because she's a playful person, she said, I channel a non physical entity. Would you like to talk to it well, after my experience with ombres, yes, that was transformational for me, so I wanted to. And I met this, this teacher, and his teacher's name was Genesis. And I said, what I asked? I asked the woman, what? What is your channel to understand? She said, he's an angel. And I said, Well, does this angel have a name? And she said, he said, You can call me Genesis. So that was my that was my introduction. This was on September the first, 1985 I was keeping, keeping track of like a diary, the first thing when I met Genesis, he said, What can I do for you? Something like that? And I said, Well, I wanted to talk about some experiences I'm having and some healing that I need. What I really wanted to say is, Genesis, I can't stop thinking about sex. I can't stop looking for sex. I can't stop having sex, and I have herpes. Can you help me please? As though he had heard the sentence, the question that I didn't ask, he said, simply, let us move into healing, shall we? And that. Was my first introduction to the non physical presence that was to be with me for the next 40 years, and still is. So you ask me how my journey started, it's how can you find the beginning of anything, and how can you ever see the end, there is no beginning and there is no end. Those are experiences in what you might say is the earth school, this domain of time and space and matter and duality and fear. They don't exist and outside. Put it that way, the earth school.

Alex Ferrari 10:42
Gary, so, so when you were saying non physical beings, I mean, I've spoken to so many channels on this show before, and I've very dear friends who are channels, and I understand the power and the wisdom of it. When this happened to you in 1985 this was not a time of being very open. Even today, it still looked upon kind of weird, but, but then those times did you come out, when, with all these books that you wrote and all the did you start mentioning and publicly talking about these non physical beings?

Gary Zukav 11:10
No, it was one physical, non physical being Genesis, sure. And it was not only strange, it was off the top weird, if I hadn't have spoken to if I hadn't had my experience with Ambrus, I don't think I'd have paid any attention to this. But just like Ambrus, Genesis began talking to me without introduction, and he knew about me, he seemed to know everything about me, and I will add a note here for your listeners, in my limited experience, not with Genesis, but with other people saying they have non physical teachers. Not all physical teachers are equal. Some of them don't know much more than I do. I think some of them know less. They're not interesting to talk to. But when you're talking to a non physical teacher with a capital T, you don't have to say anything about you. They know and there is they are entirely beneficent and compassionate and helpful. They don't tell you what to do, but they do, in my case, help me see what I'm experiencing more clearly, so that I can use it more wisely and effectively to grow spiritually and to support others in growing spiritually.

Alex Ferrari 12:34
Did you ever when this this happened. Did you ever have kind of a refusal of the call to adventure, as Joseph Campbell would call it, when this, when this entity, when Genesis, came into your into your world, and he's like, You must go out and speak. And will you speak? Or that was Ambrose, excuse me, but this, this idea where you had to go out publicly and do this at one point, did you just go? This is just too weird, man. I can't go out publicly and talk about these things, or go out and publicly teach who am I? I mean, I'm addicted to sex. I'm I've done all this stuff, and I you know, did you ever have a kind of, like a refusal to that call of adventure, meaning that the refusal to the call of do, to do this mission, or did you just automatically fall right into it because you're like, this makes sense.

Gary Zukav 13:19
Your issue specifically does not have to do with sexuality. It has to do with the nature of love. Wow. I said, Wait a minute, I'm just talking about addiction to sex and herpes. You're talking about the nature of love. I didn't say this to Genesis, but I'm trying to absorb and we talked more, and with each word, it was a stretch for me, trying to stay, to comprehend. And then he said, and the issue is, then we went beyond the nature of love. He said, This is the nature of power. Wow. Personal power. What is personal power? And then he began to explain that in every relationship there is a struggle for the balance within yourself, for your own authenticity, on the one hand, and how to be in a relationship in a balanced way. Every relationship has this. And so I began to learn about the nature of power, personal power. I spoke twice in the morning and twice in the afternoon the same day, that was my introduction to Genesis. And Genesis was channeled by this woman. She would close her eyes, and she seemed to go to sleep and couldn't remember anything, though I remembered when she opened her eyes. And I was with this woman for two years, and with Genesis, with the woman for two years, and then, because I was still narcissistic, addicted, and I. Sense, insensitive in so many ways, our relationship broke up, and it was frightening to me, because she was my only connection with Genesis. So one evening, shortly before I returned home, I was at her home in the Midwest, and I had a thought, and immediately after the thought, I had another thought. Genesis put that thought in my mind. I bet he did. I don't know if it's a he, by the way, I asked Genesis, what are you? He said, I'm an impersonal energy, dynamic. And at another time he said, I asked, what is an angel? And he said, you might look at it as a force of consciousness that has evolved into the ability to support souls on the earth and in other galaxies. So as soon as I got back to the house and could speak with Genesis, I asked, Did you put that thought in my mind? And he said, Yes, I did. Can you recognize the voice that you heard when you heard that? Thought, I had a lot of voices in my head, so I looked carefully and I could, I could recognize it after a while, I knew it. I told Genesis, and he said, well done. Communication is established me you will not lose, and I never have,

Alex Ferrari 16:29
And he's been guiding or it he's been guiding you this entire time.

Gary Zukav 16:34
Guiding is too strong a word. My experience with a non physical teacher is that it illuminates things for me that I had not previously seen, or ways of perceiving that I had not previously experienced, or even ways of thinking that I had not thought of before. So I wouldn't say a guide, if you think you're in touch with a non physical teacher, and the teacher tells you what to do. You're not in touch with a non physical teacher. You're in touch with a frightened part of your personality. A non physical teacher will never tell you what to do. A non physical teacher cannot no nothing. Could assume responsibility for your choices and the conscious consequences you create with them. So when I moved, I moved to Mount Shasta, California. I had a ranch not too far from there, and I lost the lease on it. It was in 85,000 acres of timber, little place owned by a huge Paper Company, and when I got to Mount Shasta, I wrote the seed of the soul. It was simply what Genesis had taught me over two years. And I remember musing to myself, before it was published, I thought the dancing ruling masters received a rave review in the New York Times. What are they going to do with this book, which is about reincarnation and the soul and evolution? And I heard Genesis voice, and Genesis said, don't worry yourself. This arrow will find its mark. And it did.

Alex Ferrari 18:21
It did, and then some.

Gary Zukav 18:23
And so this is all in answer to your question, how did this spiritual journey begin from someone who is addicted to sex, angry, emotionally violent, withdrawn, not connected, not caring, into who I am now, it was essentially listening to and experimenting with by the way, I never follow Anything blindly, never if and I will say to your and our listeners now what I say, and Linda and I have said at the beginning of every event we've given I don't expect, we don't expect you to accept anything that I say is so simply because I say it. But instead, if you resonate with anything, I say, experiment with it. Take it into your life and see what you create with it. And if you like what you create, experiment some more. And if you don't let it go, don't try to wear to wear a shoe that pinches. Over that time, I learned and I learned and I learned about myself, and now I found that's not different from the world. There is a new consciousness that is emerging in the entire human species very fast. The old consciousness was limited to the five senses, and it understood power as the ability to manipulate and. Control. It evolved over roughly 300,000 years. The new consciousness is emerging within three generations that is faster than an eye blink faster than a heartbeat from the perspective of the previous evolutionary time, we are about midway through that transformation. That means there are as many people that don't have that still have five sensory perception as those that have the new consciousness. We are standing in the middle, living in the middle, contributing to the middle of an epic transformation in human consciousness that has never happened before. And here's the difference, one of everything about it is different. The new consciousness is not limited to the five senses. That means, when you have that sense that you are more than a body and a mind that's real, that's a multi sensory perception, you are more than your body and your mind. You have an immortal aspect that's your soul. It existed before you were born, and it will exist after you die, after your soul returns home, if you have the thought that perhaps the world is not random and perhaps it's meaningful and you can learn about yourself from it. That's a multi sensory perception. You can begin to see things about other people that your five senses can tell you, you might pass someone in the aisle of a grocery store, and you know this is an unhappy person. She's going through a divorce. She's in a lot of pain, but you don't even you've never seen her or spoken with her before, but you know that, and you know there's a certain sense of knowing that you that is so that's a multi sensory perception, and multi sensory humans, humans that have the new consciousness, understand and experience power in a new way, as the ability to distinguish within yourself between love and fear, no matter what's going on inside of you or what's going on outside of you, and choose love What's going on inside of you might be depression, hopelessness, despair, mania, anger, competitiveness, overwhelm, judgment. What's going on outside of you might be another 911, type event or a natural disaster like a tsunami, the old understanding of power, external power, manipulation and control is not only obsolete now, it's poison. It's toxic. It produces only violence and destruction. This is the new territory. This is what Linda and I have been sharing for as long as we've been together. I met Linda something around eight years after my first two years were Genesis, after my first talk with Genesis, and then it was visionary. Now is not visionary anymore. It's happening. It's here. The new species is here. Now, if you're as old as I am, I'm 82 you know what the old consciousness is, and a lot of people still do. If something cannot be detected by the five senses which you can see and hear and taste and touch and smell, it doesn't exist, and it's considered a fantasy or an illusion or a delusion or a hallucination, the new consciousness is simply beyond that. The title of your podcast, which is so beautiful next level soul, could also be a way of labeling the new consciousness, because that immortal aspect of yourself is your soul. You are a personality, which means you are an incarnation of a part of the energy of your soul, and that incarnation is the experience of a span of time which exists only in the earth, school between your birth and your death, between your incarnation and the moment when your soul returns home. Now the question becomes, as you're aware of that, how are you going to use that span of time? What do you have it for? That's another way of saying, Well, if I have a soul, what is my soul? What does my soul want from me? How can I contribute to my soul? These are all questions that the new that individuals with a new consciousness ask now, individuals who are, let's say, millennials and Gen Z and generations beyond them, will not relate to new. Consciousness, old consciousness, because they were there among the first generations to have the new consciousness from birth, from youth. So for them, what I'm calling the new consciousness is just consciousness, is human consciousness. But they know, they know, Alex, that something big is happening huge. They can see the world crumbling around them. Nothing is working. Look at the latest election in the US. Look at the elections in the EU look at what's happening around the world. They know a big change is at foot. So I and others as you can help them understand why the world is the way it is. It is a world that they have inherited from a five sensory species. It is built on the experience of external power. It expresses external power. It demands the creation, the pursuit of external power. So what is external power? What does it really mean? For example, it means the more, the more ability you have to manipulate and to control, the more power you have. So if you're working in a, say, a 3034, story building in Manhattan, and you're in the basement, tending to boiler. You don't have much. If you're on the 34th floor with a large office in the corner with Windows on two walls, you've got a lot. Everyone in that building is going to say, Sir, that's external power. Some people have more, some have less, and you can gain it. And from the old consciousness, that's what you should do. It's what you need to do. It's what you need to do to get ahead, to stay alive, either beaten by a dog or eat a dog. Oh, that's harsh, isn't it? That's the world we lived in when we were a five century species. But it did. We didn't look at ourselves that way. We were evolving. This is what it was to be human. We were exploring a physical domain, and now, while we're in that domain, a new consciousness is emerging within us, and we can use our experiences within that domain wisely and compassionately to create authentic power. Authentic power is your curriculum in the earth school, authentic power is love. There's no power greater than that. But how do you love? How do you love when you hate someone? How do you love when you're judging someone? How do you love when you hate yourself? How do you love when you want to kill someone? How do you love when you want to kill yourself? These are the questions that creating authentic power can answer for you. Not definitively, yes, definitively. Good definition, solid, applicable, but not as a dogma. When I first talked to Genesis, and he started to explain these things. And I said, I can't share these. There's I don't want to be a part of any dogma. I don't want another religion. There's too many. And he said, That's not necessary sit simply say that what you're sharing is a window through which you've come to see life and offer it for others to look through, and perhaps it can help them. And that's what I've done. Because, should I say, there's a new consciousness now, and this is what it is, and this is how you can use it, and this is what happened if you don't, and it's if you don't, it won't change. That's all

I'm always subject to someone. I would always be subject to someone, say, but you haven't included our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, or what about Krishna? Or what about the Buddha teachings? No one can refute that. Well, I've never had that experience, because all I've ever proclaimed is this is my experience, and no one can argue that, and it's still my experience that I'm offering, and in terms of my experience, it has gone to places that I cannot have imagined. For example, I will share with you some of the things that our new consciousness is leading us to. You are your perceptions? They're not happening to you. You're not having them. You are your perceptions.

Alex Ferrari 29:34
So when you when you say you're having your you are your perceptions. Is that just another way of saying you are the stories that you tell yourself in some way about life, about pro things like that,

Gary Zukav 29:46
Yes, and much more than that, much more than that. Take life for example, or anything that happens in your life, how you experience it depends upon how you hold it. Right. For example, you. If you look at your personality, and you will as you're creating authentic power, you'll see that it's not a monolithic thing. It's got different parts. Some of them originate in love and some of them originate in fear. The parts that originate in fear you experience as anger, resentment, jealousy, competitiveness, every obsession, every addiction, every compulsion, superiority, inferiority, and they're all painful, the loving parts of your personality you experience as gratitude, caring, appreciation, content, patience, all of the universe. As you create authentic power, there's two tools to creating real power. Emotional awareness is the first, although others the other can come first. I'll just give them to you in a sequence, emotional awareness, becoming aware of your emotions. The heart is at the foundation of creating authentic power. You might say the heart is the heart of creating authentic power. You cannot grow spiritually without awareness of your emotions. That means emotional awareness, but that means not just becoming aware of your emotions like everyone is with their really angry or they're really depressed or they're sad because their relationship broke up, or a tragedy has happened, like a child has died, a loving part of your personality will look at the same event in the art school as an opportunity to grow spiritually and show you how that is same event. But how do you hold it? This is intimately connected, no pun, with the creation of authentic power. You learn to recognize the difference between love and fear in yourself, which is the same as saying you begin to recognize the frightened parts of your personality and the loving parts of your personality, so that you can choose between them by frightened part of your personality. I'm simply using the shorthand for an internal dynamic that originates in fear, you might say so, to create authentic power. The first thing when you have an experience is to look inside. An emotional experience is to look inside of you, not outside at the world the entire all of the frightened parts of your personality, the entire domain of fear is an illusion. That's why following fear cannot take you where you want to go, cannot give you meaning and purpose and fulfillment. If it did, John Lennon would have written a song called All you need is fear. Everyone laughs at that. It's absurd, because we know that only love brings you what's real, and if you can't, like I couldn't bring yourself to even say those words, you still know that connection is important to you. It's more than important. So emotional awareness is looking inside you when you're feeling an emotional experience that's painful, and you put your attention in your energy processing centers. Now let me give you an example, your throat and your chest and your solar plexus in the east, these are called chakras, and you look for physical sensations in them, not feelings like happy, sad, bubbly, heavy, sensations like aching, throbbing, stabbing, stinging, burning, contracting. And you'll always find physical sensations like that when you're in a frightened part of your personality, and then you can look at the thoughts that this part of your personality is thinking, and they'll always be judgmental and critical. For example, I can't understand this. This is way above my head, or I already know all this. Why am I even bothering myself listening to this guy? These are the thoughts that frighten parts of your personality think, and they always will. And when you recognize them, when you step back a moment, you put an arm's length between you and that part of your personality, and in that arm's length distance, you can do something you couldn't do before you can make a choice consciously when you are experiencing a frightened part of your personality, that is the time you can use your will, your free will, to move your attention into a loving part of your personality, which means the time when you were loved. Are loving and you knew you were, it might have been with a child or a grandparent or a friend or someone dear, and then choose to speak or act in with that energy, instead of the energy of the frightened part of your personality, while you are experiencing the frightened part of your personality with its painful physical sensations and its judgmental, critical thoughts, that is the moment of creating authentic power. That's when the rubber meets the road. And as you do that again and again and again, the frightened part of your personality starts to lose its control over you. Its thoughts still come, the physical sensations painful still come, but they don't penetrate you the way they did they they begin to roll, roll off you, like water off the feathers of a duck, and your awareness begins to fill more and more with the loving parts of your personality. This is the process creating authentic power. Is this simple two tools, emotional awareness and responsible choice. That's a choice that creates consequences for which you are willing to assume responsibility. You also have a third tool that's consulting intuition. So it's important to recognize the difference between your loving parts and your frightened parts before you speak, before you act, because when you speak or act from a frightened part of your personality, you create consequences, and those consequences are painful, unhealthy, destructive. In the east, they would say, you create karma. When you act with the energy of fear, when you act from a loving part of your personality, you also create karma. You create consequences. But the consequences you create for yourself. Are constructive, they are healthy. They are blissful. When you create authentic power. As you develop the ability, you are developing the ability to create the experiences in your life. This is mastery. You are developing mastery. No one can create authentic power for you, and you cannot create it for someone else, but you can support one another. And when you find others who support you consciously because they are doing the same, those are your potential spiritual partners

Alex Ferrari 38:00
When you were when you were speaking of external power versus, is it authentic power or an internal power, if you will? I heard internal power in my inside of my mind when you were talking. So I'm assuming it's an authentic power. These, it's so simple, but yet I never really thought about it in that fashion. But these, you know, titans of industry, these, you know, billion, there's so many billionaires and these kind of things. They have tremendous external power, but they truly have, at least from our point of view, doesn't show that they have internal power or authentic power within themselves, which is that what Christ consciousness is, or Buddha consciousness is, or what Ascended Masters or yogis, or those kind of, you know, ascent, you know, those kind of masters are masters of internal power, or this authentic power.

Gary Zukav 38:52
Yes, it's identical. Now I won't say it's identical, because I don't want to say, like, anything that can be construed as this is the way reality is. I'm clear that what I know about reality I know through my incarnation as Gary Zukav in this lifetime, it is a result of striving for the highest truth that I could reach for, and which in my cases, has included contact with the angelic realm. There are countless ways of coming into the experiences of the heart and wisdom. This is, this is my greatest joy. But I offer you this because it's been helpful to me and it's been helpful to others. We have people who have been practicing this for these are our support team, people on our support team at the Seat of the Soul Institute, some of them have been coming to events for eight. 18 or 20 years, and others for maybe six years. But they keep coming back, and they are volunteers like I am a volunteer, because they have discovered that this actually affects their lives. Often, people come to us because we're part of the New Age buffet, and I want to see what we've got to offer, and try out a meal or two. And after a while, they began to realize, my goodness, this is my life I'm affecting. This is my life that this is about. I'm changing my life. And that's when they keep coming back. And that's why I'm on your podcast, because it is so beautifully named, Next Level soul. You are a soul. You are the incarnation of a part of the energy of your soul. You are a compassionate and loving, powerful and creative spirit, and the pain in your life is a measure of the distance between that reality and your self image. Power is your choice. It's your essence. You cannot stop choosing. Not choosing is a choice. Let your life. Your life has wisdom. Let it move you. It will always move you in the direction of love. It will always take you to other experiences, to experiences that, again, require a choice. You are responsible for your choices. You are responsible for the experiences that of the world that you create.

Alex Ferrari 41:50
The if you were talking about this great shift, this great change in human consciousness, is something I've been talking about on the show since almost its inception, because I've also seen it, I've also feel that seen it and felt it shows like this wouldn't have existed in 1985 you know, it was very, very difficult to have a conversation like this in public. That not only will not only be seen by like four or 500 people on the internet, but actually be seen by millions of people around the world, but the consciousness has shifted so so amazingly. And it just seems even in the short time I've been on this planet, things have changed, you know, from when I was around in the 70s, when I was born in the 70s, to where we are now. It is astronomically different. Though, from the 20s to the 70s, the shift was not nearly as large as far as human consciousness is concerned. So there's so much change happening Gary right now, and there is a lot of fear in the world, tremendous amount of fear about politics, about economy, about food, about natural disasters, about all this, just changes that are not just Woo. Woo. There. You can see it, you can feel it. Things are changing all the time. So much fear in the world. What do you have to say to people who are living in that fear, that are worried about what's going to happen next? What can you what can you tell them?

Gary Zukav 43:12
Yes, there's fear in the world that's the collective unconscious, but you cannot do anything about that. You cannot change the world in the sense that five sensory consciousness understands it. The fear is in you, and that's where you can address it, that's where you can identify it, that's where you can experience it fully. That means never suppressing or repressing or denying an emotion, but instead going into it as deeply as you can that's emotional awareness, somatic awareness, in terms of physical sensations in your energy processing centers and the thoughts that it's thinking. And then using your will power, your free will, to move your attention to a loving part of your personality and choose to act from that while you are experiencing the frightened part, that's the fear, the quote, fear in the world that you're discussing it is not in the world. Yes, of course, it's in the world. There is a collective unconscious. But that collective unconscious, there is no difference between that and you. Let me put it this way, in the old consciousness, there is an uncrossable barrier, unclimbable obstacle, insurmountable wall between in here and out there. And from the old consciousness, the idea that you can change the world, that inner transformation can create outer transformation, is ridiculous. That obstacle, wall, barrier is not a part of the new consciousness. It. There is no difference between in here and out there, and your new consciousness is moving you in the direction of that experience. And from that experience, it's clear that there's no other way to change the world. You've got to change yourself, because there's no difference between the world and you that will happen in you. It's not a matter of if, but when, until then, you can continue to learn from the world, but you can realize, really see that there's no way to change a world that's built on external power. With more external power, you can put billboards up every along every interstate saying, choose love. Love is the answer. Love is all that exists. Become loving, it won't do any good. You're trying to change someone so that you'll feel better about yourself. And that's external power creating authentic power happens in you, and as you create it in you, you create it in the world. The new consciousness that we have and are acquiring is beyond the intellect, your intellect, mine, any intellect, the intellect is designed to work with the five senses. It come, it analyzes, deduces, compares, gathers data that the five senses provided, and then gives that to the personality, those aspects that it knows will help the personality in its pursuit of external power. That's all it's designed for. It cannot comprehend, grasp the new consciousness. It cannot begin to grasp the consciousness that you are moving into. For example, the universe is inside you. It's not outside. There is no outside. The first time I began to understand this, I thought, I'm gonna experiment with this. So I was sitting inside, and I was watching some trees sway in the wind, and I said to myself, Okay, I'm looking at the universe and it's outside me. It always has been. It always will. This is the way it is, but I'm gonna try this, because the thoughts come so I'm watching it. And after a while, I said, All right, now here comes the experiment. I'm going to imagine that what I'm seeing is inside me. And I did that for a few minutes, I thought, well, I'm going to go to the other way, the way that it really is. It's outside me. So now I'm watching the trees, and they're outside me. After doing this several times, I discovered I can't make them outside me anymore. It was that simple. There's still they're still in me. Everything is in you. You can change anything within you and everything's within you. You are your perceptions. That's another way of saying as your consciousness begins to expand, it ceases to be your consciousness, because I You what you think of as I ceases to exist. You. Put that in quotes, is a construct in the earth school that contains your consciousness, your consciousness as it's expanding in you, contains the earth school and everything else and except there's no you, the intellect cannot grasp this, cannot accept it, cannot use it, and can never experience it. So as this begins to happen to you, I suggest that you consider the possibility that the time for understanding has ceased, and instead to focus on the giving and sharing of joy and allow these new experiences to emerge in you. The universe is a universe of joy. You are all that is. The Hindus say, Thou art that that all that is that even the Bible says that. But I don't know of too many people before the new consciousness understood that exactly. It couldn't be clear. I asked a friend of mine who was a clergyman. I think Press Batarian for 50 years. He's 90-95, now, and he's remarkable. He's bright and Charon and I said, Is there anything in Christian theology or scripture that indicates that the universe is inside you? He looked at me for a moment as though I must be mentally defective. The Kingdom of Heaven is within, right? It is everything is within. All that is, is you are all that is.

Alex Ferrari 50:38
Gary what do you? What do you with this new shift in consciousness that we're going through, what is going to happen to these external institutions, religion, government, money, media, healthcare, education, these giant institutions that I feel at a certain point was created To serve humanity, but have kind of fallen off in serving humanity, and has turned, in many ways, turned to just serve themselves, again, focusing on external power, not internal power. What do you see these, these systems going in, these next, you know, the next decade or two?

Gary Zukav 51:18
They're disintegrating. They don't have a future. These are social structures that you're talking about, healthcare, education, commerce, finance, jurisprudence, even the military and science. These social structures cannot be changed by say, I'm going to change that social structure. It doesn't work anymore. Social structures emerge out of human experience. Just as mountains emerge out of the earth and human experience is changing, the new consciousness is given to us as a gift. You don't have to develop it, although you can enhance it, or you can strengthen it. But authentic power is not authentic power is a potential that comes with a new consciousness, and you have to create it, choice by choice, decision by decision. It is about the Earth. School is about love, not love that you fall into, love that you discover, love that you stumble over, but love that you choose. You are a creator. You are just beginning to glimpse, even if these words only resonate with you, how powerful that creative ability, that capacity, is, that you are not, that you have, that you are, you might say that when you enjoy yourself, the universe enjoys itself. And if you bury yourself in pain and fear and despair and suffering, does that too. That is the creative power that you are. And with that comes the realization of how responsible you are for it, except there's no you, but the responsibility is there. It is immediate in non physical reality, your intention is one with who and what you are in the earth school, you set an intention, but it needs to work its way through the density of physical matter before it manifests as a consequence. I will suggest that you will experience all of these things that I'm sharing when your soul returns home, but your being in the earth school is meaningful. It's very meaningful. It's voluntary. No one is here under any other terms. It is a decision that your soul made prior to your incarnation. It is a privilege. If you knew how much of a privilege it is, you would walk the earth with a sense of gratitude and appreciation and reverence, which we have so little of in our species now, that is not a part of creating authentic power. That is what you might say needs to be added in addiction. In addition to that, reverence is a perception, but it's a holy perception. Reverences the understanding or the experience that all things are in and of themselves, of value, as you see with your five senses, as the old consciousness only could do, could only do. You see personality to personality and the characteristics of some personality repulse you, any characteristics of others attract you. That's personality to personality interaction. That's how individuals with the old consciousness see themselves as personalities. It as you, as the new consciousness, the new perception emerges in you. You begin to see that the Earth suit is not is only that, that inside that lies its essence, its beingness, the power and reality of what it is. And you begin to relate soul to soul. Oh, that's a beautiful experience. And everyone, almost everyone, has experienced it. Sooner or later, you might be boarding a bus, and you put your money on the meter, and you look at the driver, and for a moment she looks at you, and there's a connection. You can feel it. You can feel it, and it's real. You go to the back of the bus, and it stays there. You're not going to forget it. That's a soul to soul connection. Multi sensory humans, such as we are becoming and billions of us are identify themselves with soul, with their soul, even while we are in this huge, unprecedented, epic transformation of human consciousness from five sensory to multi sensory, we are feeling the pull of the next step. Even while we are entering the second step, we're feeling a third that's the universal human. The universal human is a human whose allegiance is to life first and all else second. For example, I would say I'm a universal human first and a male. Second, I'm a universal human first and white. Second, I'm a universal human first and American. Second, my allegiance is to life first and everything else. Second, a universal human is beyond nation, beyond religion, beyond ethnic group, beyond culture, beyond gender, and we are feeling the pull of that a universal human experiences and identifies with life that's with a capital L. So five sensory humans identify with their personalities. Multi sensory humans identify with their souls. That's where we are now, universal humans, which we are feeling the pull toward identify with life. Universal human is the last step in the evolution of human. There's a book out called universal human. It was published in 2021 I wrote it. I didn't write it. I wrote the books away. All the others have been written with what I've been taught, with what I've been learning, with what I've been experimenting with, with what I've been experiencing. And I recommend it to you, because one part of it for many reasons, but for one, one section of it is about our disintegrating social structures, why, and what we can do to replace them. And it takes a look at them one at a time, healthcare, education, business and every one of them express external power, teach external power are built on external power, glorify external power. And external power now creates only violence and destruction. Let me give you an example based on the US election, which is we're having. This podcast is fairly recent. About half the American people are happy with it, and about half the American people are not happy at all with it. That's beside the point. The point is this, that our form of governance, five century, form of governance, is non functional, and it doesn't matter who we elect, it's not going to become functional again. And I'm not talking about only ours, in my opinion, the American form of constitutional representative democracy is the best that five century humanity created. It's exquisite. It is designed to harness conflicting pursuits of external power. That's our three part eyed government with its different ways of becoming part of each whether it's by election, different terms, different electorates, what happens to a form of government, governance that is designed for harnessing conflicting pursuits of external power for the common good, when external power has no good in any way, any circumstance, any understanding. It is poison. It is toxic. It's the structure itself that is no longer working, and it's not because it's flawed or defective. It's not It's perfect, but it's all. Silly. It no longer serves a multi sensory species. We are in the dramatic transformation from a five sensory species that evolves by surviving and survives by pursuing external power, the ability to manipulate and control, into a multi sensory species that evolves by growing spiritually, and it grows spiritually by creating authentic power. And everything is changing. I said earlier that millennials and Gen Z don't know the old consciousness, but they know that the world is not functioning, and they know that things that used to make it work better, don't they're doing the opposite. External power has no future in your life or in our species and these social structures that are built on external power have no future either, and they are disintegrating and they have no salvage value.

How can you contribute to the emergence of new social structures? You can create authentic power. You cannot control what you're going to experience emotionally next, but you can control what you're going to do when you experience it. Are you going to act on fear when you experience it? Are you going to act on love when you experience it, are you going to choose consciously between the two? That's what creating authentic power requires. And you can learn it easily and then experiment with it. Everything, every course that we've created, every book that Linda and I have written, every event that we've given, is about this. It's about external power. It's about your life. It's about a way of experimenting with your life, because no matter what you call what you are following, the bare bones of self transformation remain the same. You won't change until you're aware of something that you want to change in yourself, and until you have the intention to change it and you use your will, it won't change. This is the way humanity is now evolving through the creation of authentic power. In other words, human consciousness. Put it this, put it another way, human evolution is becoming conscious. It's happening. Where is it happening, in you.

Alex Ferrari 1:02:50
Gary, you mentioned something before where it says that we're down here in this earth school by choice. I wanted to just get your because this is a question I get asked so often about reincarnation and karma. From your experience, how is that play with that we're here voluntarily, versus like, Oh, you have you have karma. You have to come back down and clear out the karma and so on from your understanding.

Gary Zukav 1:03:17
Well, you've used the word down twice, up here, down there, that's left over from those belief systems that see heaven above, correct Earth below.

Alex Ferrari 1:03:32
I'm a recovering Catholic. I'm sorry.

Gary Zukav 1:03:35
Belief systems are things that you can choose, like the belief system that I'm suggesting to you. And I suggest that if you're not happy with the belief system that you have, you look for another one that gives you more meaning. And as you look around, I'll suggest one more thing that you look for, one that does not contain fear, and experiment with that one. And that's the one. That's one that I'm suggesting to you the belief system, that the universe is alive and wise and compassionate, that your life is meaningful, that you are meaningful, that your choices are meaningful, that they create consequences, and that you are Learning the ability as we're in this transitional phase to use your will power to choose love, that's the anthem of the new age. But how do you do it? This is how you do it, emotional awareness and responsible choice. If you have other ways use them, but measure them against your own experience. Are you changing? I know that for me, I still have frightened parts of my personality that come up, but they don't control me as much as they used to. I used to think that people who were far in advance of me, like a Zen master or an ascendant man. Sister of some kind couldn't possibly be experiencing the things that I'm experiencing. And then I realized that's might not be so perhaps they're realizing everything that I'm experiencing just as acutely, but they have more ability to choose responsibly than I do. I don't know if he really said this or not, but Thich Nhat Hanh, whom I respect greatly, passed on recently. His soul returned home, and I heard that someone asked him, How can you be so much in equanimity when so much is happening in the world and in you? He didn't say, in you. And Thich Nhat Hanh supposedly said, there's a great battle. There's a battle always going on inside me. I don't know about Thich Nhat Hanh, but I could use his words if he did say them, but I wouldn't call them a battle, because you're not at war with the frightened parts of your personality. You're simply disagreeing with them. You're choosing not to act on them anymore. You're choosing to act with an intention of love or an intention of fear. Now, most people think of an intention as an intention. For example, I'm going to have a family, I'm going to get married, I'm going to move to Tahiti,

I'm going to become a welder. They think of intentions in terms of goals. Those are what you might call intent out tensions. Out tensions. An intention is a quality of consciousness. When you speak from love, you infuse your deed or your word with that quality of consciousness, and that's the consequences that it creates. Are the consequences of acting or speaking with that quality of consciousness, and the same with fear. When you speak or act with fear, you infuse your deed or your words with that quality of consciousness. If you choose fear, you're not blamed, you're not judged, you're not sent to hell in a way you already are in because you're controlled by the frightened parts of your personality. If you decide to change yourself to create authentic power, your life changes. You're no longer controlled, as often, by the frightened parts, and then, very seldom. And then you allow your consciousness to expand. You can give the gifts that you were born to give. That's part. But there are, first of all, our language itself brings us to paradox again and again.

Alex Ferrari 1:07:46
I'm going to ask you a few questions. Ask all of my guests, what is your definition of living a fulfilled life?

Gary Zukav 1:07:52
Authentic power, love, connection, the intentions of your soul, harmony, cooperation, sharing, reverence for life. Where else is there meaning?

Alex Ferrari 1:08:04
If you had a chance to go back in time and speak to little Gary, what advice would you give him?

Gary Zukav 1:08:08
You're beautiful.

Alex Ferrari 1:08:09
How do you define God or Source?

Gary Zukav 1:08:12
You, now the question becomes, how do you define it? Because that's how you're going to create an experience that means you are divine, and that means everyone is divine. Everyone is a unique expression of the universe. Everyone is a unique awareness of the universe.

Alex Ferrari 1:08:32
What is love?

Gary Zukav 1:08:33
There is nothing that is not love. The universe is love, even the most painful experiences in the earth school, our experiences of love masquerading as fear, you might say, whenever you have a painful emotion, which means a frightened part of your personality is active, that is the universe, bringing your attention to a part of your personality that you must experience and move beyond the control of in order to give the gifts you were born to give. That's love. Everything is love. Eventually, you'll come to understand that love heals everything, and love is all there is

Alex Ferrari 1:09:17
What and what is the ultimate purpose of life?

Gary Zukav 1:09:20
Ask your heart, your mind is not going to your mind is not going to give you an answer to that that will be anything but temporarily satisfying and is ultimately empty. Your heart knows the answer to that,

Alex Ferrari 1:09:33
And where can people find out more about you and the amazing work you and your wife are doing in the world?

Gary Zukav 1:09:38
Oh, thank you. Linda Francis soul returned home August 2022 which is with us. That's part of the new consciousness. Oh, you don't have to say that. People I was conditioned to say, I'm sorry, my condolences. Linda hasn't gone anywhere, and she's here. And. Longer clear, more startling ways than I ever could have imagined, and it was very difficult for me. I thought I wanted to die. I never thought that pain like that could exist, but I made the commitment not to waste, not to squander one bit of this pain, and it's changed me enormously. I'd be glad to share that with our listeners at another time,

Alex Ferrari 1:10:26
Absolutely next time.

Gary Zukav 1:10:28
I have a podcast. Now Alex is called The Gary Zukav Podcast, and we have discussions exactly like this one. Well, they're different each time, but they're the same focus, the same general direction, and the general direction is the new consciousness. And you can go to our website, which is seatofthesoul.com, named after the book that I wrote. And there in the menu, you'll see celebration of Linda Francis. And when you click that, you'll see a video that the support team and I made to celebrate her a few months after herself returned home, and then a few personal messages that I asked the team to put on the website of what I was experiencing in this process. And I got to number 11, and that's the last one on the website, because I still working on that one, and it's producing in my life in ways I never could have thought. And I thank you, Alex for this beautiful podcast, and I invite all of those who are listening to us, to listen to more of Alex's podcast, to listen to my podcast, and to come to our website. If there's anything there that's helpful to you, use it. Experiment with it.

Alex Ferrari 1:11:54
