Awakening to the Life You Want: A Soul-Level Conversation with Masati

There comes a moment in almost every life when the person we have been can no longer carry the person we are becoming. We usually call this change. Sometimes we call it crisis, awakening, burnout, reinvention, or even loss. But underneath all those names may be something simpler: an old identity has reached the end of its usefulness. It must loosen its grip before something else can emerge. Perhaps that is why transformation can feel so much like a small death. Nothing physical has disappeared, yet an entire world we once inhabited can suddenly cease to exist.

That idea became the doorway into my conversation with Masati, a consciousness teacher whose perspective was profoundly shaped by three near-death experiences and his subsequent work exploring what he describes as the mechanics behind human potential. He doesn’t speak about death simply as an ending. He speaks about it almost as a change in perspective—a movement away from the narrow coordinates through which we normally experience ourselves. During his first near-death experience, he says he encountered something commonly called a life review, but his description was strikingly different. “It’s not a life review; it’s a life relive.” Instead of merely watching what happened, he describes encountering what life might have looked like through a more awakened version of himself.

That immediately raises an uncomfortable question. How much of our current life is actually new? We imagine ourselves moving relentlessly forward, yet much of what we call tomorrow is yesterday wearing different clothes. We inherit assumptions from our parents, expectations from society, habits from our past, and ideas about who we are supposed to become. Then we carry those ingredients forward without realizing that we are doing it. Masati offered an image I particularly enjoyed because it comes directly from the world of filmmaking: frames. A movie appears to move, but it is composed of individual images displayed rapidly enough that the mind experiences continuous motion. He suggests thinking about our lives in a similar way. Most of us, he says, simply copy the previous frame into the next one.

But what happens if the next frame doesn’t have to be identical?

That possibility became increasingly personal as the conversation continued. We began discussing the many identities a person carries through life. Father. Husband. Filmmaker. Entrepreneur. Podcaster. Son. Friend. Each role has its own expectations, language, behaviors, and responsibilities. The danger comes when the costume becomes the person wearing it. I understood that intimately from my years in filmmaking. There was a period when being a film director wasn’t simply something I did; it was entangled with who I believed I was. When filmmaking went well, life felt good. When it didn’t, everything seemed to collapse with it. Eventually I had to discover something remarkably simple beneath all those identities: I was still here.

Then something happened in the conversation that I wasn’t expecting.

Masati guided me through an exercise involving these different versions of myself. With my eyes closed, I began seeing what felt like different representations of me. At first they appeared almost like scenes, and then like individual versions wearing different suits. When he asked me to expand beyond those roles, the image changed. Suddenly there seemed to be thousands of points—possibilities that had existed, might exist, or represented directions a life could take. I wasn’t trying to manufacture a spiritual vision. I was simply reporting what appeared in my imagination as the exercise unfolded.

And then the kid in the video store appeared.

That one got me.

Long before podcasts, businesses, interviews, audiences, or any of the things that eventually became part of my life, there was simply a kid who loved movies. He loved storytelling. There was innocence in that relationship because it existed before ambition complicated everything. Somewhere along the journey that kid never completely disappeared, but his voice became quieter. During this conversation I realized that lately he had been waking up again. Not because I needed to abandon everything and return to some previous career, but because the energy he carried—the wonder, creativity, curiosity, and sheer love of storytelling—still belonged in whatever came next.

Perhaps this is what remembering ourselves actually means. We often imagine spiritual growth as an endless process of adding something: more knowledge, more practices, more techniques, more wisdom. But there may be another movement happening simultaneously. We remove what no longer belongs. We notice the identities we’ve mistaken for ourselves. We recognize inherited patterns without needing to condemn the people who gave them to us. We rediscover pieces of ourselves that were buried because the world once convinced us they weren’t practical enough, profitable enough, respectable enough, or safe enough.

Can you and really quickly for people who didn't read or listen to that last episode, just tell us really quickly about your near death experience, if you can.

Yeah, I've had three of them, and they were more learning or graduation experiences for me. So the first one literally allowed me to understand what we all seek. You know, the deeper potential of who we are. So the first one showed me as like, damn, that's our potential that we could like literally create or manifest in this reality. So the first one was more of a journeyman, or actually an apprentice level. The second allowed me to see the code, the mechanics on how to say render those realities, the potential that we feel deep inside, and bring it into physical reality, like aging younger or you know creating wealth without the sacrifice and all those patterns that we do. So that was more of I would say a journeyman where you get proficient at creating say fantastic events for yourself and others. The third near death, I think, was a mastery level for me, where I started to change my say genetic coding. Like I haven't aged like my like my family has. I don't have the diseases that my family has. You know, just just eliminating all that and just looking younger. You know, more proficient, more more healthy, more everything-the way we should age.

Exactly, exactly, exactly. Yeah. So you're not eating fast food every day, is what you say.

It's not that you force yourself not to eat; you just don't want to eat because it's not good for you,

You know what I mean. It's it's a very different level.

You know, it's funny. Funny, I had a a yogi Indian guru in the room just a few weeks ago, actually, and he's a profound master. I mean, he's 82, he's legendary, and and his energy, like his aura, you can just feel it when he's in the room. But right before, it's just the funniest story, and I and by the time this comes out, it might you might have heard it other times, but I just think it's hilarious. Is that he said to to me? He's like, Alex, do you have any garbage food? Because in the studio, in the studio, we have pretty much clean food. You know, it's all pretty much you know healthy and you know nice. You know, nothing crazy, but you know, a couple treats, but generally not. We don't have garbage food here because it's not what we do. And he's like, "Do you have garbage food? I go, "What is what is garbage food? He goes, "Snickers. Do you have Snickers? Do you have a Butterfinger? Do you have a? And I go, "What? Why do you need? I'm just curious. Why do you need this? He goes, "I need it because it's what grounds me when I go into a into a session like this. Oh, really? Because if not, it I will just keep going, and what is because the energy of that garbage food keeps them. He keeps them grounded to earth, and it's hard to think about how that is, isn't it? But it's fascinating. I get it. I get it.

Yeah, that's a but that's a heavier vibration frequency kind of food that will keep you you know a little bit more grounded to earth. No question.

It brings you back exactly. For those of you who've been fasting for 30 days, then it's a little bit different. I just found that garbage food. I thought was great. So can you really quickly before we dive into your amazing work, can you explain to people what happens to consciousness the moment the body finishes, when it stops? Like, what happens to the consciousness when you die? When you die, exactly. When the when the machine ceases to work anymore. What's from your perspective of dying three times? Which, by the way, stop it! Don't die anymore. I don't think I need to. Yeah, please stop it. After the third one, you should probably just slow it down. So, what actually happens when the body ceases?

And I work. You know, I've done like over 100,000 sessions, client sessions, and so I start to see patterns. You know, people ask me, "Is like, hey, can you, you know, help?" My you know parents cross over whatever so there's different levels of say opportunities for that body sometimes a lot of times unfortunately especially with through hospice and through you know drugs where where the where the person is so numbed out that the spirit doesn't the body dies but the spirit still thinks it's here, so the spirit literally stays, hangs out, and I and I can see that because and many people can experience it. You know, they go, yeah, I think, oh, my dad's still around me, and it's like, yeah, because he's still around you. You know, so that presence, it's like a dream state. Think of a dream state where you can do everything that you can, but you don't have to have a body to do it. That makes sense for you. So there's a reality. This is reality zero. Most most people go to reality one, which is again everything you can do here. Time still works the same, but you can't bring density, so you can't bring a body there. So in between zero and one. This is where you see ghosts or wisps or you know feel presences, things of that things of that nature. They're stuck, say, in

Elementals as well. Can you see elementals in that in that phrase? Like you know you don't want elementals, right? Yeah, that kind of thing. Things that are not in this density.

Yes,

But they they you get wisps of it.

Yeah, you get wisps of it. You get you know like like you know like sparkly things and all this

Like orbs and orbs and stuff like that.

So they're they're in between the two layers. Got it. But once you transcend into that layer again, you can't bring any density along.

That's the third. That's not in between. So there's this layer zero 0.5 and

Okay, so now we're talking about one. Got it.

So most people hover at level one because one they're not awakened. People who commit suicide, for example, they usually hang out and they reenact, say the last say five seconds of their of their life here, and that plays forever. And it's not a loop. It's just that there's no time, no space at that higher level, and they just like they just like forever feel that torture. So it's not a good idea to commit suicide. By the way, guys, it's not not a good thing. No, not a good thing at all. People who are awakened, and there's there's a couple things that you can do, and you know help people do that. So so when you die properly or an awakened death, you start to say start to re-render your life. Now, my first near-death experience I had where I had a life review, and many people go life review, but you actually it's a it's a life relive where you go through life and you relive it the way it should have been for you, if if you were an optimal soul, if you were awakened to your potential and you had the opportunity, you probably wouldn't do a lot of the things that we normally do here in life. Does that make sense?

So it would be equivalent of like we've seen this happen with athletes, celebrities, musicians-these kind of things, where they you can you can see like, wow, if that guy wouldn't have had a drug problem, or

Exactly,

And he could have been like, oh my god! So we, I always like to say like Michael Jordan, one of the greatest, if not the greatest, basketball players ever live, right?

Yes,

But he ate horribly and did not have the greatest training regimen historically. Now there's LeBron, who is a-I mean, he's a great guy, and I don't want to get into that right now, guys. But my point is that he has taken care of his body in a way that has given him longevity in a way that Michael never had. Exactly. But what Michael did do is he was able to do what he did eating McDonald's. You know,

He tapped into a source,

Right! It was something different.

So, so what is that source? So, despite what you eat, despite you know,

He was doing something else.

Masati 8:51
Yeah, he was tapping into say an altered state, flow state. Okay, yeah, Michael, and you know, again, I do that for people. So, so in that situation, if you're an awakened death, you go out, you go back into that level one, and you relive life the way it should have been. So this is where again, drug problems and all the problems that people have. If you were like an optimized being, and I just want to back up. So there's always two, say, parallel lives that you live: your optimal self that you're comparing yourself to. What could have been without you know genetic patterns, you know disease patterns, programming, you know societal patterns, generational patterns, and you know your previous lifetimes and so on. So that optimal self is always running, say parallel with you, and you can always say activate that whenever, as long as you, and that's what awakening is. So, if that makes sense to you, so so so you're always referencing, say, your optimal self, no matter where you are, compared to what you're doing physical.

Do they, do those interact sometimes, depending on what you're doing? Like if you're if you read a book or you. Started to awaken. Do you get to that optimal, and then maybe

Yeah, you start to yeah. So that optimal self is there. That's where you're awakening. When people go, you know, it's an awakening experience. It's like, oh, I'm seeing my life through that optimal version of who I am. We have glimpses void of those, and we have glimpses of that. That's why we have glimpses because it's available for us all the time. Beautiful, right? Like psychedelic experiences, plant medicines, all those things go. Oh, let's leave this this this this timeline behind, and we'll go into this timeline. So, in an awakened near death, this is where your life review happens. And again, it's not a life review; it's a life relive. So you'll go in and redo your life and go, oh, that's the way it should have been, because that allows you to graduate to the next level, so to speak, and the next level, and the next level, and and so on. So it depends. All depends on say how awakened you are when you.

So when you relive your life in a in a in a life review or a life relive, I understand that because from all the near death experiencers that I've spoken to, is that they it's not like just watching a movie. I think the best example of it, if we can give an example of it, is in like like that movie Minority Report, yeah, where there's like 100 screens and you're seeing them all. But the difference is those are all key scenes of your life or your entire life, just in a way we can't comprehend. But you jump in and live both perspectives. Is that something that

That's what happened to me. Yeah. The the first near death allowed me to relive my life up to that moment. You know, I was like 22 when I died the first time, and so I was as like I could I could experience myself being born, and you're not watching yourself. You're you're just aware of how you're growing. And 22 years compressed maybe down into seconds, which kind of blew my mind. Is like okay, so what happened there? Like how did I live 22 some years in just mere seconds? You know, or maybe a minute. I don't know how long I was gone. Maybe like 1015, minutes I was gone. So, so it was like. But when on my near deaths, I was very conscious of what was happening to me, and that, and that's the key difference between, say, my near death and most people's near death. They experience it, but they're not say conscious of say what's happening to them. For my near deaths, I was very conscious, so I learned a lot.

So you were conscious, like, oh, I'm dead.

Yes,

And oh, I, I, oh, I see what's going on here. I understand it

Absolutely.

As opposed to like, where am I? Is that Jesus? Like, yeah, exactly, kind of thing.

You know, like you're traveling through. You're actually like the back. You know, like in the studio, you've got the backend. You know, you're seeing the back end on how everything works behind the curtain. Behind the curtain. That's how conscious I was.

So you were seeing like the, and then you were able to bring some of that information back. Because also, when you're on the other side, I understand that all of a sudden you understand everything, and you're tapped into the universal cloud in the sky. It's knowledge wise. I call it the universal database. Yeah, yeah, yeah. I call it computer programmer by trade. I call it the cloud because it's similar. It's similar. It's similar, right? So you put, but then our programming or our hardware cannot bring all that back in. So you brought in glimpses of that because you can't bring all the information that you have access to when you're on the other side. Or am I incorrect?

You could, but then you disappear

Because that's not what this place is about.

Well, it's a magic trick, right? Because if you were totally awakened, you couldn't render yourself here in physical form, because you'd you'd say like a magic trick. Once you understand the magic trick, the magic doesn't work upon you, so time and space is a magic trick.

Yeah.

Right. Yeah. And then, so if you understand how time and space space work and still stay here, that's really the key, and that's how you can bring say that pure potential into physical existence. There's also another thing too: is that in your higher states, time works very differently. Possibilities are available for you. You know, if you wanted to be 20 years old, boom. You know, you're there. You know, in my second year, that as soon as I thought of something, I was I was that thing, no matter what it was. It's like, oh, I want to go to Paris. It's like I found myself in Paris. You know, or you know, I I wanted to be water. It was really amazing. The second near death is like I want to be experience being water, and I I was different forms of water. You know, calm water. I was like you know waves crashing, and I'm going whoa. This is really cool.

So you're feeling being a wave.

Yes.

Alex Ferrari 14:36
And this is happening on the other side.

Yes. On my second year of death, I'm going. How does that happen? Is like how can I be conscious and be water? So you you live without form. You're not like a physical presence. You actually morph into a consciousness of water, which is crazy. Yeah, yeah, yeah. I mean, it's it's like it's mind blowing. So so in that instance, it's you're. You know, you can morph into pretty much anything, but if you're in linear time, it's pretty hard because you have a physical body, so obviously you can't morph into that. So there are limitations. You can't bring everything down,

Right! Yeah, but but you could all. But you wouldn't want to exactly because that's not the point of this game. It's not. It's kind of like having the cheat code.

Exactly,

And that's not the point of this, you know, because it gets boring. If you get boring, if you get, because that's not what this is. This experience is about. Yes, you can experience things here that is much more difficult, if not impossible, on the other side because of

The density.

True, right? Yes, and the key here, I guess, you know, is how do how do you optimize yourself so you're not, say, running the same patterns because we're on repeat. I mean, we repeat the same wars, the same problems. I mean, as a conscious, as a humanity, as humanity, you know, it's like so. But there are other like moments of time and space that haven't been created. So the key here is like not playing the games of you know your past. It's like what are possibilities for your life that you could live, right? And that's really really important for people.

So you know because I've spoken to so many near death experiencers and spoken to many researchers as well. Is there anything that you feel is missing from your experience, from the tapestry of information that we know about near-death experiences.

Masati 16:26
Most people, most researchers think that it's a brain event that happens. You know, the latest research is like, you know, the dream states people go through, the experiences that people go through. It's like certain rewiring of your brain and so on, like that. It's really not. No, it's yeah. It's like literally a separation. It's it's the power source that renders your physical body. So most people, you know, most research think that it's just your physical body and nothing else. But it's actually the opposite. It's your presence or your life force that renders or creates your body here. Well, we animate the other way, right? It animates it. It animates.

Well, anyone who's ever been in the presence of a relative or someone who has passed, I remember very clearly when my grandfather passed. Yes, more so than my grandmother. I don't know why, but when I I was there at the funeral, I was probably in my mid 20s. Yeah, I remember touching him. Yeah, in in the coffin.

Kind of a crazy. Yeah,

I touched him, and and he was very obviously stiff and yeah, all that. But I'm like, he's not there.

I saw that with my mother.

Alex Ferrari 17:37
Yeah, he he's not there anymore. Like who, whatever was my grandfather is no longer in this meat suit.

Masati 17:45
Exactly, it's just a vehicle.

Alex Ferrari 17:47
It's just it's that's all it is. We're walking around in meat suits.

That's all this is. So, but whatever that was, he's not there, and he's not there. And that was the first time, young man, 25 or so, that I understood. Oh, oh, they're they're just they're just not there anymore. Yes. So I don't know what that was, but there but whatever was that's not my grandfather anymore. Yep. You know I see it. I see I see an aura around it. Like I don't see auras, but like I see I I see what it was, and I can place my my memories of what this looks like,

But he is no longer there.

He's no longer there. Yeah, I've seen that with my mom, and this is again, this is the the science that we get into, where you know, so explaining that, you know, and getting in, getting into where we can say duplicate the process over and over for people.

Proper death, awakening while you're in your meat suit. You don't have to die to understand, or you don't have to have a near death experience. You don't have to say have say a tragic awakening to say hold the existence or the pleasures of life, or have this life have meaning for people?

Every time there's been a major change in my life, there has to be a small death of the old self in order to move forward. This is my my my walking through it, and please tell me what you think. True, but like throughout my life, there's been these. There's always ups and downs, so when there is a major shift of some sort, there has to be a death. At least from my experience of who you were, and I think we're doing that almost on a daily basis. But there's also because obviously, like our body is regenerating itself, you know, all that kind of stuff all the time. But I'm talking about the psychological self, the spiritual self. That I'm like, oh, that's not me anymore.

If you're if you're in an evolutionary standpoint, many people just are afraid of that, and they'll just stay here.

Throughout life, I've known many people, many relatives who I'm like, Jesus, you're the exact same that you were 20 years ago, dude. Like that's insane to me. And like,

Have not like you're dressing the same. You sound the same. You have the same job. You haven't done a damn thing different. Like they just

Coast. So is that does that make sense? Does that jive with what you're true your point?

Yeah. So so what I see is one most people see themselves from the physical being and they want to reach out, like a lot of spiritual people, or a lot of spirit, we teach a lot of spiritual teachers to you know to understand, say, the concepts more at a logistical level rather than just say etherical or feeling level. But but most people think that they're they're a physical being and they want to reach out to their say spirit, but it's really not. So what I understand, and you know, we were just talking about that, is that you are of an ever-present being. I call it a timeless self, rendering itself in physical time. So it's a flip of that. Now, when you create yourself in physical, in the physical moment, I mean, you're you're a video guy. So do you understand? You understand frame rates,

Of course, 24 frames. Yeah,

Yeah. So frame rates. So each moment, or better yet, have you seen those flip books? You know where you draw, yeah, you draw something.

Yeah, it's old school, like the the I forgot what they were called, but they were the the the scopes back in like the early 1900s, 1800s.

Yeah, or you know, you draw you draw something on each page, and it's animation. Well, that's that's animation. Flip the book, and it moves. So that's basically how you create yourself. So you are really rendering yourself as a frame rate, and actually, there's quanta physics where the universe says it moves in frames. It's not like fluid motion, like we think it is.

Well, so so now you're getting into my world. So so for everyone listening, so frame when he's talking about frame rates, a movie frame, right? Every second that goes by when you're watching a movie, this is shooting on old film, but the digital is just emulating film.

In America, it was 24 frames a second.

To to render realistic motion. Exactly. If you shoot less frames, it goes faster. If you shoot more frames, it shoots it shoots slow mo. In Europe, it's 25, but it's basically close enough. So 24 frames a second is that. Yes. So the illusion of movement when your eye is being tricked. Yes, that's just being shown 24 frames a second, and it gives the illusion of movement. Well, they carry those patterns of the past, so they're not quite completely awakened, and this is where you're not really, say, completely awakened. Otherwise, you wouldn't recreate some of the problems that we recreate because it's not in nature, in biology, especially. You know, we always create a better version of ourselves, that makes sense for you. So, if you're an awakened soul, you naturally would create a better version of yourself. But most people aren't, say, that awakened as they come back into physical form.

But nobody ever, and when you're a kid, you know you're supposed to. Your parents are supposed to be awakened enough, and this is how we don't. Again, we we don't say become awakened souls to recreate. When you're a kid, your parents are supposed to go. We we messed up here. You shouldn't do that. Do it this way, you know. And this is why your kids go. Why is this happening? Why is this? Because they're awakening. They're trying to. They're going. They're seeing that actual, you know, the highest potential of who they are when they're a kid. Like I talked about, the highest potential is always running, and they're going. Well, why am I running this pattern, Mom, Dad? Why am I running this pattern? And and parents go, well, just because. And then they go, well, I'll drop the my potential here. I'll I'll just conform. If a baby, if you could say clone a baby from say the 1900s that didn't know about computers, cloned them, and you gave them an iPad, they wouldn't know what to do with that iPad. But you give a baby that's born today, give them an iPad, and they intuitively know what's happening.

When you're off the field, you can use this version, and he becomes more a palatable person to be with, because people like that-they're hard to be around.

But every time he does that, he doesn't know who Elon is, and then this is where he needs kids or new beings, so to speak. That's why he's got 14 kids, literally, because it's like, or a new girlfriend every time, because they're fresh, and anything fresh just like forces them in to be in his body and go.
